EFACon 2023 Session Ideas and Proposals
The Call for Session Ideas and Proposals is open now for the EFACon in-person conference, August 17-19, 2023, in Alexandria, VA. We are collecting two sets of information via this form: 1) your wish-list for topics and sessions and 2) proposals for panels, presentations, and workshops that you want to lead.

High-quality sessions are essential to the success of EFACon. We are looking for editors of fiction, non-fiction, genre fiction, and memoir, academic editors, communication experts, wellness experts, and business experts as they pertain to freelancers as well as diversity and inclusion experts, publishing experts, systems experts, and all other ideas!

EFACon will host hundreds of freelancers dedicated to advancing their career through learning and advancing skills, peer collaboration, and networking.

To assist in the planning of our programming, we are seeking proposals for sessions, including panels, talks, and workshops. Every proposal should address the following guidelines:

Create an informative, memorable, and enjoyable experience for attendees
● Elevate and integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion
● Incorporate effective instruction and learning principles
● Challenge attendees to learn new techniques and adapt to changing circumstances
● Explore relevant and timely subject matter
● Demonstrate a business case for action supported by trustworthy information sources
● Highlight a growth and development orientation toward the field of freelance editing
● Feature innovative practices

About the Review Process
EFACon strives for a collaborative, fair, and thorough process that ensures members will have a significant voice in the planning of conference programming. Proposals will be reviewed by a team comprised of volunteer leaders and professional staff. All proposals will move through an initial anonymous review (the reviewers will be unaware of the author of the proposal) and evaluated based on criteria set by the conference planning team. Proposals that meet an agreed-upon threshold will move forward to a subsequent round of the selection process that will consider the overall conference program, including attendee interest in topics, programming tracks, and logistics. Final decisions on programming will be made by the conference planning team.

All sessions will take place in-person in Alexandria, Virginia. We invite everyone interested to submit a session proposal for EFACon 2023. For questions or concerns, please email EFACon2023@the-efa.org.

Submit your session proposal(s) by completing this form. You can submit multiple forms. The deadline is 11:59pm ET on February 19, 2023.

Presenters and panelists will be notified of their selection status no later than April 5, 2023 and asked to accept or decline by April 17, 2023. Presenters and panelists who accept will be paid a stipend and provided a  discount on your conference registration.
